Who would have thought that August 7, 2009 we would find our Stevie. My daughter and son-in-law went with me to the Wake County Animal Shelter to view dogs that were up for adoption. I've done this before but went home empty handed. I was searching for a pet who was lovable, medium build, and in need of a good home. All of a sudden, we came up to a cage that held a puppy named "Eric." He was a little brown dog that looked so much in need of love. Eric had been in the shelter about two weeks and had been picked up as a stray. We took him into the "Get to know you room" and played with him for several minutes. He didn't bark, had short hair, was playful, and very loving. He was the one. We were unable to take him home that day because he needed to be neutered so we put a hold on him. This meant that his surgery would be performed on Monday and we could bring him home on Tuesday. Sounded good to me but my husband had not met him yet.
